Stu is thought to be by many to the very best No Limit Texas hold'em Poker gambler ever.

The three time World Poker Champion was born in New York in '53 and began betting poker prior to reaching his teens.

The young bettor began wagering gin and at the age of 10 had won his initial gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his parents. By the time he turned fourteen the small poker maestro had turned professional and dropped out of school.

In 1954 Stu Ungar entered the record books by succeeding $10,000 in a gin tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still remains in New York today.

The quick speaking superstar has been compared, in poker terms, to athletic superstars like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. Stu Ungar had a genuine talent for playing poker but in spite of his successes in Hold em poker, he preferred playing gin.

Stu once said that there might several day be a greater NL Hold'em player than him except he could not see how anyone could ever be a much better gin player.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the global map as one of the finest Texas hold'em Poker players in the planet when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the first time. Extraordinarily it was the 1st time he had entered the tournament.

The subsequent year he put aside any thoughts that it had been a fluke, by effectively defending his title. And in '97 Stu set the record by succeeding his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker master also battled with drug abuse and a year following winning his 3rd title Stu Ungar past away in his hotel room. According to medical doctors, he had died from cardiac arrest which was caused by his lifestyle.

Stu had began with practically nothing but his skill and expertise for the casino game which made this poker fantastic a millionaire quite a few times over.
