Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he's picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
